Why Having a Village Matters: How Jersey City Moms Show Up for Families

When we say we're your best friends in Jersey City, we mean it. What began as a grassroots connection between a few local moms has grown into a collective village of more than 71,000 members across our events, chats, and community spaces — all rooted in one idea: having a village is essential.
We're more than a parenting group. We're real friendships, real support, and a true community that shows up — through the messy days, the beautiful wins, the laughter, the tears, and everything in between. And showing up isn't just a feeling. It looks like something.
It looks like giving back, year-round.
Giving back is at the heart of our mission. All year, we collect and distribute donations for local families in need — monetary support, clothing, housewares, diapers, formula, new-mom essentials, prom items for local youth, and more. Through our free Little Library and ongoing book drives for local school libraries, we keep building access for Jersey City families.
It looks like our Swap + Donate events.
Several times a year, we bring hundreds of families together to donate gently used items, shop sustainably for what they need, and send every remaining donation to local charities. It's community and sustainability in one — and it's a joy to watch.
It looks like the holiday season.
Last year alone, our gift and grocery drive helped 450 children and families with holiday gifts and grocery gift cards — one of the area's largest, and one of the things we're proudest of.
It looks like real partnerships.
We're honored to support organizations across Hudson County, including York Street Project, Hudson County CASA, Community Treasures, and Triangle Park Community Center, along with many other local nonprofits and initiatives.
And it looks like the everyday stuff, too — supporting local teachers with classroom supplies, and hosting honest conversations about the things that matter: internet safety, pregnancy and infant loss, mental wellness, and community safety. We show up where we can, whenever we can.
This community lives both online and in real life — in our neighborhoods, at our events, and in the way we show up for one another. We're a true grassroots village, built on kindness, connection, and the simple belief that no parent should have to do this alone.
Because having a village isn't a nice-to-have. It's essential. And yours is right here.
